Cee-BW-Challenge-Any kind of Bricks or Stone Walls, Walks or Roads

Black and White Challenge:

Bricks or Stone Walls, Walks or Roads.

After the busiest Christmas Eve ever,

this is my best for the BW this week.

walk_0026The walk up onto the roadway crossing

Sydney Harbour was as formidable as it looks.

walk_0046Would you call these bricks?

Certainly part of a wall and to be found in

the archaeological dig in The Rocks area of Old Sydney.

walk_0065After climbing the stairs the walk across

Sydney Harbour Bridge was a bit easier.

Wordless Wednesday_2312-Sales

Wednesday December 23, 1800

Australian Eastern Standard Summer Time.

We had a few last minute chores to take care of this morning.

Breakfast in Geelong…to make sure we didn’t

have to fight for a car park.

Seems all of Geelong’s population had the same idea!!

Sales_IMAG0410By 0900, with breakfast well and truly behind us,

I found myself wandering past this shop.

Time was: 0907 and 55 seconds on December 23, 2015.

And there has been discussion in the media

about Hot Cross Buns being sold already.

Do retailers everywhere do this type of thing?

Or is it something confined to Australian retailers?

I suspect the former.

Black and White Tuesday15-2212

Black and White Tuesday

 December 07, 2015

Some random photos this week.

sunset_0607One of the sunset photos taken a week or so back.

A Sydney tree.

This is not one of my favourite shots and only included

because at first glance i think this shot could pass

for an old black and white shot.

Even in BW it looks overexposed…

however, using Picasa, and some preset shadow

and it is more interesting than the original.

I think the foliage creates a nice vignette feel/effect

around the clock face.

Hope you enjoyed.

Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge-Wk-51

Odd Ball

Week 51

A few days ago I sighted some

wedge tail eagles…wedge-tail-eagle_0607soaring back and forth over the road.

No Camera….

and no -eagles when I returned with camera.

wedge-tail-eagle_0607a  turned down a side road and captured some

beautiful views (note I said views, not photos)

of these birds as they soared back and forth

over the road, again.

I was so excited and in a rush to get out of my car

to shoot them that I forgot to undo my seat belt!

When I get a bit blasé about eagles my hands will

stop shaking long enough to get some

really good shots…I hope.

Travel Theme-Naughty-AND-Nice

Naughty AND Nice

Travel Theme.

After a night our celebrating a fiftieth birthday (not mine) I was

still struggling for a Naughty or Nice  theme.

Then I thought Naughty AND Nice.

So  as the perspiration began to for just about everywhere

at 0730, I gathered a spoon.

First important ingredient for Naughty AND Nice.

Second essential for Naughty AND Nice…one glass.

The VIP essential…a tub of ice-cream.

And while not as important as the first essentials…some flavouring, especially for vanilla ice-cream.

My favourite is caramel, strawberry and chocolate (if I have to).

I skipped a step or two here.

The end result after

ice-cream to glass and add flavouring steps…

should look something like this.

Thought I would add another photo

just because it’s Naughty AND Nice.

To complete this Naughty AND Nice challenge one needs

to empty the glass using the spoon.

How you go about that is up to you.

I was to busy emptying mine to document the step!

And all before 0800!

Now for breakfast.

With temperatures heading to the mid thirties

it’s a good day for a pre-breakfast

Naughty AND Nice.

I do feel better.

Ailsa…hope you don’t mind my tweaking the theme title a little.

Weekly Photo Challenge-Gathering

My contribution for this week’s challenge…

I intended to use some family gatherings for this post and then remembered one very hot day in Kruger National Park in 2013  wildebeest_0202After hearing apologies from our guide about the distance

we would be travelling and the heat…

wildebeest_0343early in our day, this heard of Wildebeest was

our first gathering for the day.
wildebeest_0343aThis was our first large sighting of any one species…

wildebeest_0357but not the last.
impala_0329aThis random shot, not taken on that hot day,

but suits the challenge.
ostrich_0495Half an hour past the wildebeest gathering we sighted

this family already trying to find respite from the heat.

lion_0880Nearing the end of our day we found another gathering

of four-wheel drives.
lion_0880aAll occupants were intently focused on a gathering

on and to the to each side of this road.

While our guide was still a tad apologetic regarding

time spent on the road and the heat – our other vehicle

is the green one second from the front – we thought it

a magnificent day because of  all our animal sightings.

I have only shown the gathering type sightings in this post.

As I said last week:

This is why I love Africa.

Zoos don’t let you get so close as this…

PS:  I think my ‘past’ is correct…but not sure. 🙂

Black and White Challenge:

While walking across Sydney Harbour Bridge…

lock_0123I noticed a single lock attached to  the wire.

Probably caught my attention because these locks

have been removed on one of Melbourne’s walkways

over the Yarra River.

lock_0124Adjusting the focus slightly and background clouds

became more evident and interesting

With an average distance of 384401 km from the earth,

I think this shot fits the Faraway challenge.
