Saturday night…setting moon
Probably not quite odd enough for the OddBall challenge…but different. Just happened to notice the setting moon as I toddle off to the cot last night.
I took this photo without using a tripod,
although I did lean against the door frame for support.
- Shutter Speed: 1/125
- Aperture: f/6.3
- Focal Length: 500mm (equivalent to 750mm on 35mm camera – Nikon D90, cropped sensor)
- ISO: 160
This photo reminds me of a story about two locals in my home town.
A new moon would come on its back, similar to this shot.
One would say the moon was full of water and a
wet month was to be expected.
The other would say the moon was holding water in
and a dry month was to be expected.
Whatever the outcome, one of them would be
nodding and winking at his mate with an
‘I told you so‘ expression on his face
sometime during the month!
