Some more from a chilly morning at Corio Bay
~~~
Reverse parking a ship.
Tugs meet a ship…
push and guide it towards its berth.
A quick push and a pull and the ship
turns on sixpence/ five cents piece.
A few minutes later it is being reversed to its berth.
I have seen people driving small cars
make a real mess of reverse parking.
This was such a smooth operation.
Thanks Raewyn. It was fascinating to see the process. At least for me it was. I have lived inland most of my life and certainly have never seen tugs at work previously when near the coast. Portland, a place we seldom visited, is the only decent port on Victoria’s South West Coast, and that was an hour’s drive from where I lived.
