Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge-15Wk-25

This week’s

Odd Ball

Again not sure if this is Odd Ball or not, however…plover-chicks_0340

in all my life I have never been fortunate enough

to come as close to this scene before.

Yesterday, I decided to go for a drive in a welcome day of sunshine and

only made it down our drive and onto the road before

I first sighted these chicks following their parents around.

They had been told to play possum when I began to walk towards them…

and they were probably more obedient than many children I know.

How many can you see?

    • Was certainly Where’s Wally when I realised that he was missing…last thing I wanted to do was step on him. One minute they were following parents, next secoond they had disappeared.

    • I heard what sounded like a dog yelp, after I came inside…looked out window thinking it was one of ours…only to see an early teenage girl (I think) in full stride, running, dragging little dog along with mother and father plover taking it in turns to take a fifty metre or so swooping dive at the intruders. Wellllll, I thought it was humorous. 😃 A hand in the air keeps a swooping bird away.

As for chicks…I was having a very careful look before taking a step.

      • You’re bad, laughing at that poor lass and her dog! 🙂 I’ve been bombed by magpies, you’d probably have laughed at me breaking into a gallop, but laughing at the same time.

    • I knew there were four and could only see three. It was like walking…very slowly….on egg shells. And although I don’t like to admit it that is our front yard and is in need on the lawn mower running over it. After the way these chicks sat I may give them a bit longer because I would hate to have a scrambled plover behind me.
