Floral Friday-15-2003

Floral Friday Challenge.

Last Monday I visited Melbourne Zoo and

discovered more than animals.
belladonna_5332I am fairly certain these are belladonna lillies.

They are paler than the belladonnas we grew on the farm,

however, January/February is blooming time,

and these are past their best.

red-hot-poker_5509 I know this as a Red Hot Poker.

If it has another name I am unaware of it.
statice_5506 Is this statice? No, Sedum.  Thanks Tom.
red-panda_5340 Not exactly sure what this tree is called.

It was cool, shady and tall enough

to keep panda way above the crowd.

  1. Great shots and indeed most zoos have a great selection of plants as well – it’s certainly the case with Melbourne Zoo. The tree in the last photo is a plane tree I think.
Many thanks for participating in Floral Friday Fotos!

    • I’m going to stick my neck out and suggest that it’s not a Crassula…at least not a brother or sister. Maybe a cousin though 🙂 My reasoning is that the foliage appears to be more that of a succulent on the ‘nowathome’ link. The foliage at Melbourne Zoo was leafier. At least that is the opinion of one who is not crash hot with horticulture/botany.
