Black and White Tuesday,

 March 31, 2015

I left home this morning in warm sunshine….

fog_001and only a few kilometres down the road

sunshine had turned to fog…

fog_008which was doing its level best to stop the sun breaking through.

fog-house_0027On my way home I noticed that sun was breaking through

and had found a target in this old house.

Hope you enjoyed.

Travel Theme-Outdoors

Travel Theme.

Outdoors…and immediately the

Makgadikgadi Salt Pans,

in Botswana came to mind.Makgadikgadi Pans _0396A narrow track into the salt pan itself was difficult to navigate…

Makgadikgadi Pans_412and longer than expected,.

Makgadikgadi Pans_418But when we arrived on the pan all we could see was salt,

mini whirlwinds/cyclones/tornadoes and

shimmering heat in the distance.

Makgadikgadi Pans_0473Every now and again a small ridge and some scrubby trees

broke the horizon…

Makgadikgadi Pans_511until finally we reached our destination in

the great outdoors of Botswana.

Weekly Photo Challenge-Ephemeral

My contribution for this week’s challenge…

I think ephemeral leaves us with many options.

Defined as lasting for a very short period of time,

I did once read that

diamonds take 10,000 years to form naturally,

which is

only the blink of an eye in geological terms.

fog_0003 So I discovered some fog photos from last winter.

dew_0015Foggy weather is ideal for creating dew on fences and shrubs

which is usually gone before noon…if not earlier.

fog_0037The fog or steam on the river will last as long.

fog_0034I love fog photography and

my favourite subjects are trees.

They take on an eerie ghostly presence

in a fog and that presence does not

hang around for very long.

Cee’s Black and White Challenge:

Wasn’t sure if I had pictures for today’s challenge…and then…

kharma_0024I remembered the temporary loos at

Kharma Rhino Sanctuary in Botswana.

When we visited all public areas were temporary

as the main building had burned down a few months earlier.

The rhinos, and other animals who chose to call the sanctuary home

have a twenty-four hour military guard.

No wonder all appeared very relaxed.

bath-maun_N1765Next we have the outdoor bathroom at tented camp near Maun.

Just right of the photo is the main tent.

Biggest problem with this bathroom was the cold breeze

blowing up through the floor.

I get chilly just thinking about it!

And with no roof…it was a very quick shower.

Although after no shower the night before

and the next six nights with community facilities,

up to one hundred metres from our camp site,

this was heaven.

chobe_1266Then we arrived at Chobe Lodge…

chobe_1267with more room in the bathroom area

than we had in our two person tents.

Oh! The Joy!

At last there was again,

room to swing a cat. 😉

Fun Foto Challenge

Weathered Wood.

I reckon I have done enough typing in the

past twenty-four hours so

today it’s brief.

Almost wordless 🙂
