My contribution for this week’s

Geelong’s architecture through the years
The Gordon TAFE (Technical and Further Education)
has been providing vocational education
to students for over one hundred years.
Across the road from The Gordon is the
Up-Side-Down Building which
houses government offices is
certainly newer but has been around a while.
Pier Point is one of several buildings which
has sprung up along Geelong’s
foreshore during the past ten years.
More recently is the Waurn Ponds library,
known as ‘The Box’,
is on the outskirts of Geelong
in a fast growing area and
opposite an expanding shopping centre.
I’m told it is extremely nice inside.
It is just the outside which is not that appealing.
Back to Geelong city centre, just down the street from
the Up-Side-Down build and The Gordon,
the new Geelong Library is taking shape.
Built on the site of the old library,
it is going to be a feature of Geelong when completed.
Geelong’s foreshore and its modern development,
while in the background,
the abandoned cement works,
on the other side of town, overlooks all.
