Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge-Wk-26

Odd Ball

Week 26

I think this suits the Odd Ball Challenge

Totally odd that we should even need to worry

about this little bloke growing into an old tusker…

however in all likelihood he will die at the hands of a poacher and not old age.

Have a read of this article, titled

A World without Elephants

on the Africa Geographic site

No idea why my images are not being displayed regularly

    • Glad you like it Cee. Beautiful place to holiday as long as you like animals. Admin lady at work was petrified seeing a photo of giraffe looking over the compound fence. Apologies if you have another partial of this…the first one disappeared

  3. This really touched me, and the Africa Geo article. There are no words to describe what’s been done to elephants, and rhinos too, thanks to China and Japan in this context too. And the politics behind all of this leaves one speechless. I read an article the other day that described an elephant in South Africa who, in running from poachers, had to go through properties with fences and he meticulously stepped over each one without damaging any. And of the herd of elephants in Namibia who, also running from poachers who’d killed one of their own, ran and didn’t destroy any villages in their path. Don’t think we can say the same of humans. Thank you for posting this pic and the link to the article.

    • We could not get over how gentle the elephants were/are last year. All the animals are beautiful in the natural habitat. Just don’t known how people can call it hunting, or sport, when they stand several hindered metres away from intelligent animals, with a high powered rifle and just pull a trigger. There was a current affair type show on televisions a few months back…the elephants didn’t have a chance.
