Award-Virtual-Blog-Tour

04-08-2014

On Monday, July 21, Raewyn’s Photos  nominated

WoollyMuses

for the

Virtual Blog Tour

It is relatively new so totally unexpected

Here are the rules

  • Compose a one-time post which is posted on Monday (date will be given to you from whoever passes on the tour)

  1. What am I working on?
  2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
  3. Why do I write/create what I do?
  4. How does your writing/creating process work?
  • Answer four questions about our creative process which lets other bloggers and visitors know what inspires us to do what we do.
  • Then pass the tour on to up to four other bloggers.  Get their permission first and give them rules and specific Monday they are to post. (Aussies are known to break rulles…so I hope my  nominees will accept).

So I will start with the first question.

1. What am I working on at the moment?

I seem to have my fingers in several pies at the moment.  Work has decreed that I complete some further study in Language, Literacy and Numeracy.  I have been a bit reluctant with this as all readings are similar, if not the same as my university studies.  I would rather be studying photography or something else that I do not consider work.  But still if one has to be cooped up in front of a computer then winter is a good time.

From a blogging perspective, I am working on posts relating to the commencement of World War I.  As I have said in several posts, my Grandfather was part of the gun crew which fired the first allied shot.  A commemorative event is being held on Tuesday and my camera will be part of that event.  Watch this space 🙂

2. How does my work differ from others of it’s genre?

I am not going to comment on my writing skills, or lack thereof, here.  I am sure that nouns, adverbs, prepositions, verbs, adjectives, apostrophes, commas, semi-colons, colons and exclamation marks (to name a few) are all used incorrectly…at times.

Based on some camera club colleagues my photography differs in as much as I do not use Photoshop to ‘draw out colours‘.  I sharpen, and add light and shade if required.  Some photos displayed for a recent club exhibition were described as different to other photos.  They were African wildlife photos.  My colours were natural…which looks good, I think.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

When I write I need to be in the mood and the topic needs to have a light side to it.

When I create a post I just try to create a post that is interesting.  I also post because I my photos can be used…even if only for fun.

4. How does my writing/creating process work?

First and foremost, I write the little I do, for fun.  For my enjoyment…and if that makes others smile that’s a real bonus.

Now, how I create.  About twenty years ago I was taking part in a Communications unit as part of a course I wanted to complete.  We had to give a five-minute presentation, “to local farmers on behalf of your organisation, S.H.E.E.P“, so said our teacher.  What was I/we (my partner and I) going to talk about?  I did not know.  What I did know, at the time, was that I had to plough my paddock if I wanted to get my crop planted.  My dog, Brandy, was trotting along just in front and to one side of the tractor.  Suddenly condoms for dogs popped into my head.  And Doggiedoms was born.  Once the idea was there it was easy to create a five-minute talk…which had to be repeated so the teacher could record it.

Check out my Travel Theme:Simplify post this week.  My photos had been selected and then as words began to flow and change, the idea formed.  Massaged to suit.  And yes, put to bed about two hours after I should have been.  Sleep deprivation works well when I am in the mood to write.  And yes MGW tends to cringe, at times…well a lot when she reads my posts.  So I do know there are many rough edges in my writing.

Photography is another thing altogether.  I like to take photos and then crop for impact.  I have decided that wildlife and anything without a recognisable person in the shot is fair game.  The world has changed in the last thirty years when I photographed brides on their happy day.

I would like to photograph more of the human race; many, young and old, would make great subjects…but as I said times have changed.

=============

Unlike Raewyn, I am not going to make comment as to why I nominated each of these blogs except to say that I enjoy the photography on each of these blogs.

My nominations to join the Virtual Blog Tour are: (ten second drum roll)

It’s my way of thanking you for supporting WoollyMuses.
