Thursday Lingering Look at Windows-Wk-05

~~~~~
This week I had to spend an hour or so in Geelong waiting for my car to be attended to.
Out came the camera and a walking we did go.  Well, one  of us walked….
window_0562
Nearing the end of my walk I came upon this old building….built many years ago and now renovated on the inside to cater for a small industry.  However, the windows caught my eye.
~~~~~

window_0563

Odd that  top floor windows were totally covered…

window_0564however, if you look carefully you will note that they once sported nice glass ….

window_0565louvered windows like this frame around the corner.

window_0566At ground level there were no signs of louvered windows and solid bars keeping people both out and in.  This is an area which i have often driven through but never walked and ‘smelled the roses’.  I am sure I looked like the typical tourist with camera in hand photographing all that locals take for granted.

This may be the largest rear end in the series.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge-100-Steps

~~~~~
My contribution for this week’s
100 Steps Challenge revolve around local
Australia Day Celebrations.
~~~~~

If you happen to be driving behind me along Geelong’s Esplanade you will have a slow trip as I always like to admire, when safe to do so, the ever-changing colour of Corio Bay…part of Port Philip Bay.

Bay_0429

Last Saturday, this was the sight which made me stop and cross the road to capture to moment.

Bay_0430As far as the eye could see there were yachts approaching Geelong…

Bay_0432which were competing in around the Bay races as part of a long weekend (public holiday on Monday) of races to celebrate Australia Day on January, 26th.

Bay_0435These photos are in chronological order.

Bay_0439

The ever-changing skyline, as more sails came into view, fascinated land lubber me.

Bay_0461There was activity on some moored yachts and while I thought the Australian flag was going to be raised up the mast…

Bay_0459it never ventured higher than in this photo.

Bay_0462Many other were also enjoying the sights and respite after a week of forty plus degree temperatures.

Magpie

~~~~~
After four days, during which the maximum temperature averaged over forty degrees, and maxed out at nearly forty-five…
DSC_0436we noticed this magpie and his mate eyeing off a cool drink.
DSC_0437While its mate stood guard our maggie took its time…
DSC_0438
selecting just the right spot to take a sip.
DSC_0439Why it did not drink from the deeper pool is beyond me…
DSC_0440but it took several long sips not fussed about its audience.
A-Z Challenge-DDD
2014
~~~~~

Just realised that my post is a week late

DDD was where I entered the A-Z  Challenge last year.

So for 2014 D Challenge, I have…

Duiker_0041an airborne Duiker.

~~~~~
Dung_0322And of course a farm boy would always noticed the bits of dung in the paddock.  However, sheep cannot produce as well as elephants do, do, do…
~~~~~

Dwarf-Mongoose_0031One dwarf mongoose.

He was first line of defence if the rest of the family, up the tree, appeared in danger.  With a guard like this we did not dare venture any closer.

His eyes are bulging because he caught a glimpse of the photo above…

Do you recharge your energy by going out with friends for a good time or by spending with quiet time alone?

I can do either, although if I am feeling a bit flat getting me to out can be difficult.  Have often gone out for half an hour only to return three hours later…sober I might add 🙂

 ~~~~~
What is the most number of blankets you’ve ever had on your bed?
Probably tow of three in a really  frosty night.
~~~~~

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met. Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?

I don’t particularly like big gatherings but was invited to a function at which our then Prime Minister was a guest speaker.  Even able to shake hands with him.  Has anyone else ever heard of a ‘…dead fish…’ handshake?

 ~~~~~
Do you like talking to people on the phone? Or do you prefer voice mail or email?
definitely on the phone for the immediate reaction etc.  Voicemail gives time to prepare a response and as for email…I have been on the receiving end of so many’…I will let you know as soon as…’ emails in the past twelve months that it is almost becoming a legal  battle.
A Word a Week Photography Challenge-Undulate
~~~~~

My contribution for this week’s

 Word of the Week Challenge.

~~~~~
Undulate, ripple or wavy is the theme for this week’s challenge
wave_0250Some regulation bow waves to begin with as we cruise the Swan River.
elephant_0105Finally, the last two photos depict some undulations that I would not have considered undulations until I began contemplating this challenge.
