Share Your World-Wk-47

~~~~~
How do you like to spend a rainy day?
Reading a good book or catching up with book work.
 ~~~~~

What is the weirdest or strangest thing you saw or heard or did this week?

I have had a really quiet week.  Ask the question in a couple of weeks.

~~~~~
What item, that you don’t have already, would you most like to own?
Right now it is a second Nikon camera.  However, even second-hand on eBay my budget and logic, is finding it difficult to give my self the nod to buy one.
 ~~~~~

How many times you have moved in the last ten years?

Once…and that was enough

Weekly Photo Challenge-Joy

~~~~~
My Joy contribution for this week’s challenge comes from photos taken in the latter part of this year while in Africa.  I do like all of these photos and I keep finding more.
I hope they bring you joy also.
Decorations_0466jAnd there is always Christmas joy.
Finally, from Africa Geographic Facebook page I found this Christmas cracker joke:
 Q. Why did the lion lose at poker?
A. Because he was playing with a cheetah!
Lion_0943I have used one of my own photos instead of illegally using Carole Deschuymere’s photo.
Pleeaassee take time out to look at Ms. Deschuymere’s photo.
Travel Theme-Birds
~~~~~

My Birds Travel Theme for this week.

~~~~~
Once again I have selected birds of South Africa for this week’s
Birds
challenge.
bird_0368a
It is only since working my way through my photos that I have noticed that small blobs in some photos could be enlarged to produce birds as attractive…
vulture_0153
…or strong hunters as in the first two photos..
The ground hornbill at Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre had its eyelashes done especially for this photo.
roller_0514My favourite of this lot is the Lilac Breasted Roller,
taken in Kruger Park National Park.
For such a small bird it has a huge wingspan.
Thursday Lingering Look at Windows-Wk-50
~~~~~

Decided to look at windows from the other side this week.

The following shots are from our cruise from Perth to Fremantle on

Western Australia’s Swan River.

~~~~~
SwanRiver_0260
If my memory serves me correctly, and the information provided is correct, the buildings on the waterfront in this photo all belong to the same family.  A careful look and you will see one or two houses about half way up the river bank with the same colour roof which are also part of this waterfront mansion.
SwanRiver_0264
Certainly an enjoyable cruise with time in Fremantle for shopping.
Well worth the day out if ever in Perth.
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge-Kind and Caring
My contribution for this week’s
Fun Foto
Kind and Caring
challenge.
~~~~~

Twenty four hours ago I ventured into our kitchen dining area to be swamped with symbols of a white Christmas.

~~~~~
Christmas-13_0235
Snowflakes, blue and silver had appeared along the curtain rail.
~~~

Christmas-13_0234

All of this can be credited to the kind and caring one in our family….MGW.  Me? At Christmas?
I am known as “Bah! Humbug!” in our household and at work.  Someone has to be the villain. 😉

~~~
Christmas-13_0238
Even a reindeer had managed to settle comfortably on the ‘young’ table.  I was going to say ‘kids’, but most of them are nearly past that tag.  However, I did still query the absence of one of the six white boomers.
~~~

Christmas-13_0236

Even the cups and table-cloth were matching….but not a gum leaf in sight.  The only sign this may have  any connection to Australia was the wooden knife handles which MGW’s brother-in-law had hand-made for us.
~~~
Christmas-13_0229
And this is the table cam view from Woolly’s chair.  Nearly forgot to mention, yesterday is one of days of the year where I insist on  taking care of all the washing up of table ‘crockery’ 😉
To all still celebrating Christmas I hope yours is a happy as ours was.
If you are not familiar with the term ‘six white boomers‘, click here.
A Word a Week Photography Challenge-Reflect
My contribution for Word of the Week
“Reflect”
Challenge this week.
~~~~~

I am sure that Maggie was reflecting on the past year, or may she reflected on the prospects of some leftover Christmas lunch, as we prepared for the Christmas invasion yesterday morning.

I felt that Frizz issued a challenge last week, with this comment.

frizztext | December 18, 2013 at 21:30 (Edit)

O.K., Y = yachts along the Swan River was easy for you – but you don’t have Zebras swimming in that river:

next week: letter “Z”!

They may not be swimming in the Swan River but…
