My Travel Theme for this week.
~~~~~
A photo on wheresmybackpack was my prompt for this week’s challenge.
Each morning when arriving at work, the night staff, or maybe some early arrivals of the day staff variety, will have had a toaster…somewhere in the building, working overtime just before I arrive. The fragrance begins rather inocuously as above….two simple pieces of bread in electronic device.
Once we get to this stage it is time to make a pot of tea. We don’t drink as much coffee at home as we do at work. Whatever your brew it is time to make it as a pot of tea takes time to ‘draw’ the flavour out of the leaves.
Shortly after this is the result. Some people will say this toast is over cooked, but my mouth is beginning to salivate just looking at my handiwork. 😉
On my plate there is no turning back. A variety of toppings, one which the rest of the world detests (Vegemite), and your day is beginning well…until one arrives at work and smells this beautiful fragrance all over again.
Because I do like to try new things, particularly when I travel, I did try vegemite while in Australia. I didn’t like it so it must be an acquired taste. I wrote my response this week about kimchee, a food I did eventually acquire a taste for and now love.
Vegemite is not known for curing colds but I love it in copious quantities !!
🙂 Let’s just say that I loved many other parts of my trip to Australia, just not the vegemite.
I can live with that. Lots of Aussies would agree with you.
I googled vegemite and it kind of looks like apple butter, which I love, but I’ll pass, thanks. 😉
Toast is fragrant all on its own. Cinnamon toast, especially. Yum!
It may look like apple butter, which I have never tasted, but I’ll bet it tastes nothing like it. Very much an acquired taste. Many people just have a scrape across their, personally I like it thick! My Canadian friends were polite and tried it early this year……but like many, that’s all they did.
For a change I like raisin toast, or multi grain breads, which we call mouse bread. 😉
Yes, I read that it was an acquired taste. Much like those dreaded Brussels sprouts of mine! 😉
Some years ago I would have agreed with your comment regarding Brussels sprouts, however, MGW has a way with them that makes me want more every time they are on they menu.
