Cairns Foreshore

In my Colourful Cairns post I made mention of the swimming pool at Cairns.

It is a remarkable pool and has been constructed in such a manner that the

100_5410CairnsPoolWhile only a few metres away are plenty of shady trees to provide an ideal area for a picnic.

From the shade you have a good view of the pool and of family members who may be using it.

I wondered why there was such a big pool in a city which has such good weather. I discovered the answer after going for an ankle-deep paddle at the beach near our accommodation. Upon mentioning this to one of the locals, after the event, I was informed that crocodiles have been known to frequent the beaches! I would like to lose some weight….but not in one bite.

If all the picnicking, swimming and sitting in the shade becomes too much, there is always another way to enjoy your holiday. 100_5413CairnsPool
